Beach trip

Beach trip

Last week I went down to the beach, Camber Sands in Rye, and it was the first time I'd been to this beach and a sandy beach in England. The only beach I'd been to before was Brighton and Dover, though I'm not really sure Dover counts.

It was so beautiful. It felt like a holiday, as you pulled up to the car park you could see random parts of the tarmac where sand had crept in and covered it. It actually reminded me of a beach in New Jersey I'd been to in America. Well it reminded me of there for a few moments. You could tell it was England though when you got on the beach from the immense wind. It was SO windy. The wind farm next door should have been clue number 1, clue number 2 would have been 'sand in face'. Ironically when I was eating lunch there was sand in my sandwich. Which was funny, except I actually ate sand. Yum.
I'm so glad I went though because it was so pretty, the water was so blue and it was kind of sunny.

I'm now back in the UK and getting back into the swing of work but I wanted to just do one last Norway post. Some random images of Norway, all taken in Oslo actually.

Drammen and Oslo fjords

Drammen/Oslo fjords

One of my favourite things about Norway are all the gorgeous fjords, as well seeing Bergen fjords I got to see Drammen and Oslo fjords too. This time it was really sunny and warm when I went to the Drammen and Oslo fjords. I spotted quite a few people going for a swim in the water, I wondered if the water was really that warm. Wouldn't it be freezing? I soon found out. The above picture is the scene where I slipped on a rock and fell in the water. Haha. It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. At least the sun helped my clothes dry out quickly but I spent the rest of the day smelling of seaweed and walking around in soggy shoes.

Bergen Fjords

Bergen fjords

The last day I was at Bergen was a Monday and it was raining so hard all day. Even my rain mac was struggling to keep me dry, I think it was losing the will to live by the end of the day. So on a rainy day what do you do? Do something outdoors and involving the sea. Of course. I left the fjord boat ride to the very last day, which turned out to be a day where it was hard to see what was in front of you. There were odd moments when the rain stopped, but then it would just start up again.

The fjord boat ride was 4 hours and it took you to all the surrounding fjords around Bergen. It was so stunning and I basically took pictures non-stop the whole ride, only thing was it was impossible to take pictures from inside because all the windows steamed up. Yes I stood on the top, uncovered, deck trying to hold down my hood with one hand and take photos with the other in the ferocious wind and rain. My poor camera was soaked by the end, but it survived...just.

It really makes me want to live by a fjord though, I can't believe how stunning it was around there. Also how it gets nice and misty when it rains.
